The Scout by Harvey Dunn Vintage Framed Print - 24" x 16.25"

$42.00
Sold

This is a very cool reproduction of "The Scout" oil painting by Harvey Dunn, originally from 1910. The piece depicts a lone scout on horseback in a Western landscape. The frame has a really interesting texture as well as a dual toned grain that’s very striking.

Condition: Used - Good: The item shows wear from consistent use, but it remains in good condition and functions properly.

Features:

  • 24” x 16.25” (in frame)

  • Framed Print

  • The Scout by Harvey Dunn

  • Protective glass over print

  • Hanging wire is attached

Artist: Dunn, who was born in 1884 and died in 1952, was an illustrator, teacher, and one of eight illustrators selected as an official artist for the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I. Dunn believed the purpose of illustration was to set the stage for the reader's imagination. He would often select a scene that was not described in detail in the text, in order to concentrate on depicting the mood of the story instead of the details. Dunn's approach to painting was to first establish the darker tones that provide base color values and contrasts and then build up to the light tones. Figures started with the heads, and the heads had to remain the most interesting elements in the final painting.
